SpaceX's president is giving 2 million shares to teenagers

More than 2 million SpaceX shares are about to land in teenagers' investment accounts.
Gwynne Shotwell, SpaceX's president, announced it Friday on X with her husband, Robert. The shares are moving into escrow now and reach children's Trump Accounts in December, Reuters reports.
Round one goes to 11- to 17-year-olds in ZIP codes where the median family income is $57,000 or less. Those families should get a notice by Monday.
Round two, in a few weeks: kids in military families serving overseas, kids in foster care, and more kids near the Shotwells' Texas home, in counties where the median family income is $90,000 or less.
Here's the twist. The Treasury's $1,000 seed deposit only goes to babies born from 2025 through 2028. Teenagers get nothing.
For a lot of these kids, a rocket company will be the first thing they ever own.
Shotwell held about 12.6 million shares at the IPO, per Teslarati, so this is roughly a sixth of her stake. Trump put the gift at $325 million back in July.
Elon Musk reposted the news. He has already promised one of his own SpaceX shares to every kid in America next year.
Most 15-year-olds want a car. These ones are getting a piece of Starship.
