New York overwhelmed this omurice pop-up in nine days

A restaurant usually worries about too few customers. Dearbros appears to have found the opposite problem almost immediately.
The Osaka omurice specialist closed its nine-day-old pop-up inside Japanese cafe BentOn on October 29 after being overwhelmed with guests, Eater New York reported in its November 6 restaurant briefing. The team is now turning its attention to a permanent New York restaurant. Eater said it had requested more information; a confirmed opening date and location were not supplied.
The pop-up had opened in Midtown East, at 156 East 45th Street. An October 22 listing from The Infatuation described a soft-opening operation serving variations on omurice with different broths and toppings including kakuni, or braised pork belly, and wagyu.
The attraction is easy to understand: rice beneath a soft omelette, made more substantial with richly cooked meat. The operational challenge is different. Popularity does not automatically translate into enough kitchen capacity, seats or service time to handle it.
Older listings still describe a run through the end of the year. They should not be mistaken for confirmation that the pop-up remains open. The newer Eater report is the relevant update. For now, this is a story about demand outrunning a temporary restaurant, not a recommendation to join a queue at BentOn tonight.
