The $55m Arizona house has a bunker — and a bar behind the books

At this Paradise Valley estate, the escape routes are part of the entertaining plan.

An Arizona compound listed for $55 million includes a roughly 2,000-square-foot underground bunker, a private shooting range and a speakeasy concealed behind a bookcase. The bunker has been softened with seating and a small bar. Apparently the end of the world should still come with somewhere to put a drink.

The estate, built in 2024, occupies about 2.5 acres. There is a four-bedroom main house of roughly 13,600 square feet, a two-bedroom guesthouse and a recreational building containing a sports court, golf simulator and the bunker. Darren Case, the attorney representing the selling investment group, told the source publication that security was a principal attraction.

That extends to an AI surveillance system designed to flag suspicious movement patterns. It is a seller-described capability, not an independently tested promise that the property is impenetrable.

The renovation above ground

The investment group bought the compound in early 2025 for $33.5 million, according to property records cited in the report. A subsequent remodel cost roughly $15 million, Case said. The work expanded the kitchen and added a wellness wing with red-light and dry saunas, a cold plunge, gym and massage room.

Outside, the additions include olive trees, a Silkie chicken coop and a waterslide. The effect is a private resort with a contingency plan beneath it.

The asking price would exceed the $40.2 million Arizona home-sale record cited by listing agent Katrina Barrett. It is an ambition, not a completed transaction. On the seller’s figures, purchase and renovation alone add up to about $48.5 million before carrying costs or selling expenses. The bunker may protect the residents. It does not protect the margin.
